Proclamation

On Easter morn They came in swarms Throughout the stolen city

1,200 strong At crack of dawn Outnumbered without pity

With many fears But never tears Stood O' Connell Street awaiting

To lend its ears To Patrick Pearse To hear the proclamation

Irish men and woman We summon for the cause For an island and tradition The dead did give to us

For the Irish we have written Our rights and liberties

And we’ll sacrifice Her living

For her prosperity

The words were flown On paper bones Throughout the stolen city

The flags were grown From GPO Where Ireland rose from pity

The brave rebel With spoken spell That was the proclamation

Then straight from hell The Liffys' shells A test against creation

Irish men and woman We summon for the cause For an island and tradition The dead did give to us

For the Irish we have written Our rights and liberties

And we’ll sacrifice Her living

For her prosperity

And we'll sacrifice Her living

For her prosperity

Let them know When Ireland called She was not forsaken

Let them know We gave are all Not with hesitation

But with pride and promise In a lands equality With a pride and promise

For all to be

Children of a nation Children of elation Children of an Irish liberty

Irish men and woman We summon for the cause For an island and tradition The dead did give to us

For the Irish we have written Our rights and liberties

And we’ll sacrifice Her living

For her prosperity

And we'll sacrifice Her living

For her prosperity
